I have this T-18 with a Dana 20 Transfer Case . My question is how do I determine whether it is a CJ T-18 or a Ford T-18 ? Apparently, there is a difference but I don't know what it is. Also, I have these two bell housings. The one on the right matches up to my AMC 304 and T-150 but I can't identify the second one.

That's a Jeep T-18 . You can tell by the PTO access plate. A ford T-18 would have the plate on the passenger side.
It also looks like it's out of a full sized jeep. It has a long input shaft. The full sized jeep bellhousing has an adapter between the bellhousing and the T-18 .

The bellhousing on the left is for a T-18 in a full sized jeep.
To put that T-18 into a CJ you would need to install a short input shaft. You could get one from Parts Mike.
More info on the T-18 here: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f105/manual-cj-transmissions-12112/#post97092

There are 2 different T18s. Some had a granny low first (called a T18a) and some had close ratio gearing.
If your T-18 is from the early '70s its most likely a close ratio T-18 . If so here's the input shaft you need.

If you have the wide ratio T-18 then this input shaft won't work. Call up Parts Mike at 1 (530) 885-0673

After you get the correct input shaft installed the bellhousing on the right will work out.

Also verify that your input shaft is longer than the bellhousing on the right. Looking at the picture I may have been wrong about that being a long input shaft.

Thanks Dave. I was told by a local guy that he believes it came out of a J-20. After looking at my T-150 and the T-18 side by side, the adapter plate makes sense. If this isn't an inappropriate question, can you give me an idea as to the value of these? I am looking at moving them along to fund some other parts for my Jeep. These came off a donor engine and I'm not going to be using them. The guy I got them from said they worked fine, but since they weren't in the vehicle I have to take his word for it.

In my area a T-18a with the granny low goes for about $600. Yours would be a bit less if you have to change the input shaft around $400-$450. If it doesnt have the granny low I cant tell you but it wont be worth much. Youd be better off trying to sell it on a full size J-truck site.

So, would $500 for the T-18 including the Dana 20 Transfer Case and bell housing be fair?

In the photos, both the Transmission and Transfer Case appear to have the original metal ID tags under the bolt heads..
If the tags are original, those can be decoded to obtain original model and application information.
