As I was tidying up my engine compartment, I came across a strange wire spliced into the horn wire. The PO routed this wire across the engine bay to some kind of relay or something mounted next to the solenoid. There are three connections on the component, but the other two aren't hooked up. I plan to remove it, but it kind of looks original. Anyone know what this is?

The only thing I can think of is the PO hooked up some kind of aftermarket horn like the Dukes of Hazzard or something, or maybe they wanted a light to flash when you honk the horn?

For the record, the original horn is on the driver's side fender and works fine.

Here are some photos:

Looks like a relay hooked directly into the battery power cable. Scary, but I bet it works.

Sorry, not the best angle- the cable that goes between the battery and solenoid runs underneath the relay, it isn't connected to it. Right now there is nothing hooked up to it.

It's still a relay attached or not. It could have been for almost anything including the horn. A relay is actually not a Ducks of Hazard type fix, it's actually the right way to add a poser hungry item like a horn or additional lights.

Yes, I know it is a relay - just wondered if it is OEM - I meant that maybe they hooked up a dukes of hazard type horn - poor attempt at humor.

It looks OEM to me. Same bolts as your solenoid etc.
Don't know what it would be for.

Yeah, I've been going through the wiring diagram in my Haynes manual, but haven't found anything yet.
