Holley Carb tuning

Holley Carb tuning
It looked like it was installed correctly. Should I manually fill the float bowl before trying to start it after I put it together?

Absolutely. That will not only help it start quicker, but put less of a draw on the battery/starter. It will stay running much easier.

I have watched a few episodes of overhaulin and I see them pre fill the bowls thru the float bowl vent at the top of the air horn I thought that was pretty neat trick :chug:

Another question as I begin to put this back together. I have a 1/4" thick gasket between the engine and the adapter plate. Does it matter whether its between the carb and the plate or the plate and the engine? I assume this is supposed to insulate the carb. Also curious as to why that is necessary?

Insulating the carb from manifold heat will help prevent against vapor lock. I would suggest placing it against the carb. Make sure there are no vacumn leaks in that stack of the carb, heat insulator, adapter, and gaskets. Make sure the fuel lines are clear from any heat sources also. Good luck on your next startup.

Thanks. All the little stuff has become a pain to get this back together. The accelerator cable is too short so I am having to now fabricate a new bracket to hold it the proper distance.
