How much lift you can run without having to modify the pistons

Any CJ5 has so short of a wheelbase that they do not recomend more than 2 inches of lift for stability reasons. There is a chart somewhere online with lift suggestions but I do not have it marked.

Hey Baja, is this the one your looking for?

On the oiling issues of the AMC 304 , what about the 360's? Do they also have oiling problems?:notworthy:

The 290, AMC 304 , 343, 390 & 401 are basically the same engine.
The 290 & AMC 304 have smaller valves than the others.
The 390 & 401 have forged crank & rods.
The 70' 390 & all AMC 304 , 360, 401's have dogleg exhaust ports.
The oiling issues are generally over 4500 RPM.
You could easily build a engine that runs good & never go higher than 4500.;)
