- 1978 cj7 304 v8 , 4speed which i think is out of a newer cj. Im pretty sure it has a stock transfer case.

i think i would get a CJ8 with a fuel injected 502 chevy, allison tranny, high pinion dana 60's an atlas 4 speed Transfer Case . full roll cage with 5 point harnesses for 4 occupants. and a set of 38 inch tires. of course all the goodies like ac, hydrolic steering, on board air and welder, power inverter, full size spare, highlift mount on spare tire carrier, as well as 2 jerry can mounts and gauges that work. then i would take it down to baja following the race course. ahhh dreams...

I wouldn't be so lavish as some, a simple CJ7 factory clean with some up to date components.
360 with EFI would be fine backed up with an NV4500 and a Dana 300 with Terra Low gears and twin sticks.

4 link conversion with 4 inch lift on 33's
air conditioning
power steering
Just some simple things to get me thru some of the most beautyfull back roads and mountain passes in America.
