Hey all,

So I've been having overheating issues. The Jeep only overheats at extended idle ...maybe 15 min or so and it starts a slow creep up. Remanufactured motor maybe 20 miles on it. New water pump (reverse rotation), new fan clutch, and fan shroud installed. I've purged the system of air (I think) per FSM. I have no cold spots on the radiator and I have a new cap too.

I was told that my fan was the wrong one...possibly for a V belt (not reverse rotation). Was told when you put a shop towel up to my grill and the fan clutch engages it blows instead of pulls. I like my mechanic so I'm not questioning him (well not too much). I just like 2nd opinions.

Can someone please put their Jeep cape on and confirm this for me by looking at the photo.

Thanks in advance.

I can look tomorrow for you it's dark now.

YES- air should be pulled into the grill from the front.
You may also have the wrong water pump on also.
BTW-That is the WRONG fan!

So their is your problem you have the wrong fan. Problem solved.

Thanks for the replies...I appreciate it.

I know the water pump is correct, since I ordered the reverse rotation one. I'm not schooled enough to notice the fan though lol.

Total curse of the PO over here, I'm tell'n ya! This "should" be the last component I'll have to change that he had his hands on haha. I've changed everything else. *famous last words* :D

Funny thing is I got this Jeep cheap with a blown motor...can you guess what blew the motor up? Hint: It's what happens when you have the wrong fan for your application, and you keep driving it that way instead of talking to a mechanic and a bunch of smart guys on a forum ;)
