:)Not a bad Idea , but with that if its under the hood you have to get out and turn the switch

Do it at the trail head when you are airing down your tires.

I think your in-cab controls are just triggering your solenoids. Couple amps at most. Not the same thing.
 
Ran my Cherokee winch in free spool mode up and down the Colorado mountains and 90+ mph all the time (emergency vehicle) without any problems. But, I preform vehicle checks daily and the cable end was hooked into a shackle mounted on the ARB bumper. Your milage may vary.. Rod
