- 1982 CJ7: 151cu iron duke/ sr-4 trans/ dana 300/ dana 30 front amc 20 rear 3.73 gears.
im guessing this is where you post your into so here it goes.
my name is doug, currently living in michigan and just bought my first CJ in june. have owned 2 Cherokees and an LJ in the past. title for mine says 1982 CJ7 . after some asking around a a brief tear down im guessing i have an 81 with an 82 body because i have narrow track axles and the iron duke w/ SR4 Transmission which only came in 80-81. the front axle has drum brakes so after asking around it's a pre 74 axle but i did check and they both have 3.73 gears. future plans are a amc v8 (not sure which one. AMC 304 ,360, or 401), T-176 Transmission , different axles, (also not sure which ones but im told waggy 44's are a good choice) hi-front fenders, full corners w/ hi flares, sliders, and stubby bumper all from gen-right, and probably a camo paint job until i save up enough money for a new tub as this tub is pretty shot.
i really know nothing about these things and would really love any and all inputs, thoughts, comments, and smart *** remarks.
