hello everyone

So I moved to another house and misplaced the original carb for my CJ7 its a 1980 and has the beast of an engine know as the iron duke lol my question would you guys recommend finding another stock one or replace with an aftermarket?? If aftermarket which one?

(Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place)

I ran a Holley 5200 on mine. Water heated choke. I think it was from a Vega. The original wiring was gone on my CJ5 so I couldn't run the carb to the feedback circuit. I made the adapter plate but it's basically a Weber so you could probably get one from them. The progressive design works well on small motors. It ran good but the Iron Puke still left a lot to be desired. I swapped to a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .

Several sites will give good info on the duke.Replacing the 80 HP 2.5L Iron Duke with a 140 HP 3.0L Mercruiser Iron Duke - AMC Eagle Den Forum

They aren't a bad motor and there have definitely been worse.

Try the fiero sites as well as the s-10 sites these cars came with the 2.5 and there is a lot of good info there for carb selection as well as some pretty impressive build ups like the 350+ hp naturally aspirated Monza !?!?!?!?

Hmmmm.

Thanks for the replies guys, I have a 4.0 I can swap into it just need to get a Transmission for it but living in CA I have to pass smog inspection before I do that. Thinking about trying to get a used carb just to pass the inspection than doing the swap
