I've always wanted a Jeep and I happened to come across this one for a killer price. Not 100% sure what year the body is. It's got the straight 6 and what looks like a 78' CJ frame. It's a auto. I need to replace the broken drivers seat and maybe a few mods, so knowing the year would help. The title for the Jeep said "Kit Car" and my insurance company says it's a 98' Jeep.

X2, not sure why the PO titled it as a kit car. You are going to have to cross ref. the #'s on the frame to find the year it was made if the PO didn't leave the vin# for you.

I bet the PO built it fom a found frame with no title, built it, and then had to go through DMV for a title and new VIN#. They call it a composit here in Ct. and give it the current years registration.

Hey Orangeamc13 and welcome! :chug: I know you have been here for a while but I see this is your first post... :) Thanks for being part of our site!

Thanks and you're welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

The truck has a auto Transmission and no 4x4.

I took a photo of the engine. I'm sure you guys can easily tell me what it is.

I live in FL and would like to know what the best type of engine oil to use would be for it. Sorry for the noobish question. ;)

My guess would be that it started out as a dj5 (postal jeep) based on the auto tranny and 2 wheel drive. The motor looks like a AMC 232 i6 or a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , check the code stamped into the machined surface on the same side of the block as the distributor (probably late 70's).
