I have a 1975 CJ5 that was my dad's. He bought it new and it last was in running condition in 1991 approximately. I would like to rebuild it from the ground up.
The first thing I have to do is get it to my garage from where it is sitting. I have just put some used tires on the rims as the BF Goodrich tires that were on the rims had dry rotted and didn't hold air. I plan to move the Jeep next weekend.
What is the first thing I should do to analyze the Jeep to see if it can be rebuilt using the original motor (AMC 304 V8 AMC)? The motor was rebuilt back in the mid 80's and currently has around 45,000 miles on the rebuilt motor.
I am hoping the block insn't cracked.
Due to lack of money and time, I know this rebuild will not be fast. I am also not a mechanic.
Any advice from experienced Jeep rebuilders will be appreciated.
