- 1976 Jeep CJ7 Renegade - Levi's Edition. 304 V-8, T-18 granny 4-speed. 38k miles. All original except 4-barrel intake & dual exhaust.
I have a completely stock 1976 CJ7 Renegade (Red with Blue Levi (Edition) 's top / interior) that I keep up in the mountains. It has the AMC 304 and the factory T-18 granny 4-speed tranny and I put less than 500 miles on it a year.....mostly off roading. I am the second owner and it only has 38,000 miles. Although it is in excellent shape, I have been planning to do a full resoration in the next 5 years and am slowly acquiring obsolete aftermarket parts from the 1970's era. My goal is to make it a total sleeper.....keep it looking like a factory stock CJ with a few tasteful mods but have a ridiculously powerful engine under the hood.
I just bought a well-running 1974 AMC 401 engine out of an International Travelall. The guy has an extensive AMC collection and has been collecting various high-performance engines for the past 30 years. He is a super nice guy and sold it to me for $600 complete air-cleaner to pan. I am going to build the engine to have an extroradinary amount of power but look like the stock 304 on the outside, mostly to fool the techs at the emissions station. I am so psyched that I can hardly wait to pick it up next weekend.

I wish you good luck with it.
