Little pulley that holds tension...

While trying to fix another problem I came across another. The little pulley that puts tension on the A/C belt (which is my OBA compressor belt) seized up. I was wondering what that sound was for a while, thought it was water pump bearings or something, now I know. It just spins it's the smallest pulley and provides tension for the above mentioned belt. I looked them up but none come up for the 79' AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l should I just take it off and go to store and try and match one or does someone know it's name or part number or where to snag one? Thanks.

v belt or serpentine?? either way I would see if the bearing could be pressed out and replaced. I replaced one on my J-10 once upon a time and it was hard to find 10 years ago and not cheap.

I believe hes saying its a sperate belt for aftermarket on board air using A/C location. So he only adds it when needs compressor to work. And the tensioner is not spinning anymore huh? Snap a few pictures and post up and I'll see what I can find for you.

Yes, V-belt tensioner. Have OBA switched when needed, but that always spins also. Yes it's the aftermarket A/C belt. I have some pics getting ready to go to work I'll take computer with me and post later. I've seen little pulleys for 15.00 to 30.00 figure maybe just get same size if possible.

There is a number on the back of that pulley...that's the number to cross reference the part you need.

Went AZ and picked up a plastic one that matched in size. If I can get bearings pressed into metal one for decent price I'll keep for back up.
