I got a replacement master cylinder from the auto parts store a few months ago. It was not painted or protected with anything and now it's rusted. Has anyone painted there's to make it look a little better? I know brake fluid will strip paint so I was curious what have other people done?

I always paint mine before I install them. It does not last forever but it keeps them looking good for longer.

I always make sure to clean the sealing surface really well too before I put the lid back on. This will help keep it from seeping.

Rust is a color.

I found some High temp brake caliper paint at Autozone

"VHT SP731 Real Red Caliper Paint High Temp"

It clams to be chemical resistant.
