Is this for your 85? That looks like a foreign MC.

I would want to put on a factory type MC, I would put back stock.

Do you mean foreign vehicle (overseas) or just a master cylinder from another vehicle, not my Jeep? I do believe it's a MC from another vehicle.

The CJ has a Chevy 350 in it. Brakes off of a Scout II (along with the axles) so I'm guessing the booster for the MC is different from the original too and I don't want to replace the booster if I don't have too...that's the reason I'm trying to match it up.

I'm a newbie wrencher so if I'm missing an obvious reason to just throw the original MC on let me know.

Thanks for the reply.

I think it looks like Chevy. Came from same vech as the motor? :)

Maybe it's off the scout that was donor for the axles. But that's just a guess.

There are far too many specs on a master cylinder for us to guess what you need. When I got my CJ the brake pedal was way too high. Turns out the PO installed the wrong master cylinder. It looked right but after installing the correct one the pedal was back to normal.

It is the wrong MC on your CJ. If it was my vehicle - I would put on an OEM MC.

If you get a CJ master cylinder I am willing to be it won't fit on the booster.
I bet a PO converted to power brakes and used parts from who-knows-what to make it work.

I think you are right. Maybe a GMC Blazer I think. I've seen a couple of pics on the net that match up really close.

Anyone have any tips on measuring this thing so I can just search for specs instead of images?

You could run over the juckyard and look around. But then I'm an old guy.:D

Do you know what the motor came out of?

Thanks Busa! I hope you didn't remove yours for the pic, lol. I headed to Autozone with my master cylinder in my grippy little hands and did the best I could to match it up with the replacement parts they had in their computer. The part that matched the best is on it's way in today at 3pm my time. Here's to hoping it fits!

is there a part # on it that you could google?
