OK so every thing I can think of to describe how I feel will be deleted by the censor bot so I guess the term moron will have to do.
the new MC2150 has had a too high idle problem ever since I put it on. I kept trying to lay this off to too large a main jet pair in the bowl but I couldn't convince myself that the main jets even came into play at idle.
this weekend while on the shake down run I had the opportunity talk this over with a couple of guys that are better mechanics than I am. after describing the problem they both asked if I had pulled the throttle plates off during the rebuild and when I said yes they both used one of those words that describe me better than moron.
Apparently you need to be a lot more careful about re centering the throttle plates than I was because it sure doesn't take much of a gap to totally screw up the idle.
They both said that they never took the throttle plates off or the rod out but just soaked and flushed it.
Tonight I pulled the carb and re centered the plates, that were a whole lot farther off than I would have guessed and after replacing it on the engine it started on the 4th rev , I did cheat a bit and put a squirt of fuel in the top to make up for the dry bowl.
I have not done any adjustment, it's late and It will keep till tomorrow but I did have a beverage and do a little Happy Dance in celebration of one more problem out of the way.
