Anybody know anything about the Mile Marker electric winch? I have a chance to pick one up tomorrow for half the cost of retail (new, in the box) any thoughts, knowledge, advice would be very appreciative.

I played with an old hydraulic mile marker winch. Not an electric model. Seems to me they were bought out by one of the bigger companies? Something like that. For 1/2 the price and needing a winch, I would buy it!

Yeah, i thought the same thing...... so i stopped on the way to work and bought it :D If i don't like it, i can sell it.

No worries, you'll like it. I had a MM 12k electric model on my Jeep when I bought it... that thing would pull down a house. I used it on some deep, nasty mucked up trails to pull out myself and a TJ at the same time with no problems (no overheating, duty cycle issues, etc). I put a strap from the TJ to my back bumper, hooked the winch via a tree saver to a healthy trunk, and pulled away!

I owned a cast iron 12k hydro winch, pulled strong and was reliable, but a bit slow.

Thanks guys, I'll start a thread next month on the cj project when we get back from a long overdue vacation. I'm thinking portable winch.....😎

Glad you found a great winch at a bargain price. They do come along from time to time.
