i recently removed an engine for replacement and to no suprise someone has been in there before and had one to many 6 packs and left parts out. my question is on the clutch portion, is the pivot ball for the fork just a ball that sits in there and if so what keeps it in place. this is my first jeep, but on the gm's ive worked one it screws into the bell housing. thanks.

LOL.......that sux  yes it is a regular ball bearing and its held in place with a daub of grease then the tension from the springs on the fork :chug:

wow, thought i was the only one up at this hour. are you talking about the return springs on the fork? i have seen some pics of forks and it looks like there is some kind of retainer or something that is on the fork itself. maybe for a different set up idk?

lol Im "out of town":D if you look at the not so great diagram of the clutch components on the link the throw out bearing (#16)will snap onto the end of the fork,(#3) there is a short spring (#12)near the throw out bearing to pull the fork towards the tranny and then the fork rests on the "pivot ball"(#15) and the return spring(#6) pulls on the fork to keep it in place :chug::chug: Jeep Clutch Parts for your Jeep CJ5, CJ7, CJ8 Scrambler at Morris 4x4 Center

Lol, thats what i'm looking at now. now that thats taken care of whats a good brand of clutch to go with that won't brake the bank.....not that that matters this far into it. lol.

I personally LOVE Centerforce clutches I have an old "Gold" clutch on my Jeep and it has worked great for me behind my 360

Not to thread jack, but the clutch linkage is missing some parts on my 75. How much chance would it be if I bought this kit, that I would have the stuff I need to hook it back up?

The rod running under the steering linkage will rotate as you move the pedal, but it's not connected to anything.

Here's the other end of the rod and the round bar above the exhaust swings when you rotate the rod.

I'm not sure what I'm missing and would rather just replace it with new parts that I know were done right.

that looks like everything to me. Do you have a body lift or are you thinking about getting one?? this can kind of change the clutch rod and sometimes the outboard pitman mount.

No body lift. This thing has some odd springs with like 6 leafs, but that shouldn't affect height because it's SUA.
