I am putting my motor back in after blasting & coating the motor mount brackets. I also blasted another pair that came with a AMC 304 I bought. I have a different frame than when I took the motor out...so now I don't know which brackets go on which side, which holes to go in and which ones go with this motor and which don't.

Anyone have any pictures of their I6 stock brackets on the frame? I took pictures of the assortment of brackets that I have and need to know which ones go with my I6 and on which side of the frame they go.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hope these will help. It's an 82 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in it's factory location.
This is the drivers side:

PaRenegade :notworthy: You are the man!

I went to bed with a question and woke up with an answer- complete with labeled pictures- of the same year, make, model and motor.

I really appreciate your help! I had already tried a combination of brackets and locations before posting the question and now I can stop wondering and know that I have it right.

I look forward to getting home from work, taking the laptop out to the garage and bolting the brackets up in their porper locations according to your pictures.

Again, thank you sir!

Rick

Your quite welcome, glad I could help. I took those pics for that very reason, cause I know I'd forget which goes where and also the orientation of the cross brace.

I know this is an old thread but I found it in a search and wanted to reference this photo. I thought I had marked mine before removal but I guess not.

I'm trying to place the mounts on a 4.0 but something is a little off. I've attached a photo for reference. There is a part of the engine block that appears to be forcing the engine mount to a weird angle. If I attach this mount on the driver's side, it is flush. I thought I took pictures for reference but didn't. Does this appear correct?

I'm not familiar with the 4.0 engine so I can't really help you. But I'm gonna assume this wasn't the engine you removed and throw this out there. The Wranglers used the 4.0 engine but they also used a different frame. Those look like different mounts than the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l used, so maybe you need to get a pair from that engine(AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ), to work with that frame cause maybe the holes on the frame are different. Just a thought to ponder.

The mounts I'm using for the 4.0 are from my old AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Also using the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l bolts since they are the length needed for the thinner AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l brackets.

I've done a lot of research on this and every time I've found the engine brackets mentioned in a swap comment, they said the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l brackets match right up to the 4.0. Mine have matched up with the exception to the angle I show in the pic. Nothing is mentioned as an issue in the comments I've found about the swap. The angle is what is making me question whether or not I have this particular one on the correct side or not or if it's contact with the engine block flange (where highlighted) is present/normal on the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ? I didn't get a good enough grasp of the mounts with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in place to tell if this angle should exist?

Thanks for the review!

Don't know if this will help or not but heres my passenger side mount. Not a real clear pic, sorry.

I see the same angle and same lip on the block. It's been driving me nuts so this helps immensely. Thanks!
