They did show a rich mixture but with the way it's running now I'm sure it will clean up. If not I've got a spark plug sandblaster I bought years ago from JC Whitney that does a fair job cleaning up fouled spark plugs.
it was all down to three elements of the AFB carburator,
1. Perforated sunken primary float
2. Fuel leaking from secondary throttle shaft
3. Misboxed needle and seat from NAPA~Echlin
What a great relief that I was finally able to get this going again, especially since I've work to do on 'Black Betty's stablemate, 'Easy Bake' where I have to make some adjustments to the valve train. Going to wait for more temperate weather though as the full (soft) top is sealed away in it's storage bags and it's no mean feat to get it to stretch during the colder temps of winter.
Well it now comes down to fine tuning. Idle & fast idle speed was a little too high, @ 1000 rpm. back off the two screws to no avail. Upon closer look I found that the linkage for the high speed cam may have been tweaked in the several times I've seperated the Air horn from the Throttle Body. Using needle nose pliers I adjusted the linkage rod slightly to increase it's overall length to get that high speed screw off of the the last step of the cam. I'm doing this incrementally so's not to screw things up any further. Wish me luck!\
