questions:

what carb?? holly or 2100/2150?

how do you determine you are rich??

Will the plugs clean themselves up when the mixture is right?
or should the plugs be cleaned, wire brush/sand blasted, when the mixture is changed?

you are all the way down to 46s?
did you build the carb?
what is your idle speed?

I have not checked the plugs, I am thinking it should have a bit of highway before evaluating the plugs. More than likely this weekend. I have 49s right now and it does not smell rich at idle but may be a bit aromatic at low speed, kind of hard to tell.:D

Like the vids, Spielberg watch out!!:chug:

1. 2100

2. It stinks pretty bad. Not as bad as with the h.e.i. but still bad enough

3. Im not sure. Also these plugs that are in it are a higher heat range for the h.e.i. I will need to change them out. I believe I'll do that and the Team Rush at the same time.

4. The carb was from Ebay. Im working without a timing light right now cause I broke mine awhile back. I was just happy to have it running as smooth as it is by ear.

5. I can smell mine at idle. I have yet to take it out for a ride. I believe I only dropped to 47s. I have to find my reciept from Mikes carb parts. Its been that long I cant remember. :o

6. Whos Spielberg??

I have to make sure Im not too quick to judge also. This was only after having it idle like in the videos for about 5 minutes. For now I was happy with it. Like I said I'll hit it with the Team Rush and a better coil.

When I pulled my plugs ( with the h.e.i. ) all 6 were covered in black soot. Im going to see if I have the correct ones in the garage. I will also play with the air/fuel idle screws and see if I get rid of some of the smell. Then maybe a nice ride and read the plugs again.

Don't know how old those plugs are , tough to get a good read on an old plug. Looks to be some residual fuel and oil around the rim, look down the inside body below the electrode and see if there is any color on the porcelain. If it's white with no color then all the fuel has been burned , if its a soft tan then its pretty close.
Not like were tuning a race car here but we like to use a plug like an NGK that has CAD plating on it. We read the heat based on how much CAD has been removed from the threads.

New plugs with the head so maybe 2 hour run time.

I had some problems with the throttle plates being off center and running too rich at idle because of it. I am thinking that another hour at highway speed and plugs will be clean.

the porcelain is pretty much white and the tip of the electrode is tan on the tip, I think the gap is .045.

I do need to look at all of them before making a call on this.:D

You should be pretty close.......if you are experimenting with jets then try this: At the top of say second or third gear under load, do you feel the motor nose over for a split second? Meaning does it start to fall off?
If it does its just telling you its burning all the fuel that is available at that RPM & Load. Of course your not normally running the motor at that RPM for any extended period of time. Most often the motor is running through or at peak torque which is perhaps 500 RPM's lower which requires more fuel to do the work.
The good news is it would be pretty hard to hurt it unless it was running at high RPM's in a Hot environment for a long period.
I think your looking pretty Good!

Yes I do , but they are my favorite wheels ever and one day I'll throw them on my CJ7 . :)

She will be used frequently and well taken care of.
I plan on making her a daily driver, I have my other CJ to trick out. :)
I plan on driving her to work this coming Monday!

Thanks for allowing me to take her in...

P.S. Still want those wheels! :)

:notworthy:. As for the wheels I hope to have a Jeep-cj.com run at Rausch Creek when I get the CJ7 done. You can pick them up there. :p It was to wet out for video and I didnt feel like capturing it "live" as I know it was something I didnt want to watch repeatedly. :o

P.S. If you really want the wheels send another truck , only bigger and enclosed this time. :)

I need to go find a huge Craigslist score to take my mind off of this. ;)
