My first CJ7

Hey everyone. I just bought an 86 CJ7 and it has a small Plate mounted on the dash that says "Collectors Edition" something about END OF AN ERA... Is there someway i can look up free info about the jeep using the VIN #?? I looked at several different websites but all i can get for free is the basics about it..........Any help would be greatly appreciated

Collectors edition? I feel left out with my 86 not being one.

I'm not sure if it will help, but you can send your VIN to Jeep and they'll give you your build sheet. I'm only assuming that they can go back to '86.

That's pretty cool that you have that emblem. Not all '86s have that.

I'd bet that you have the Dana 44 rear axle too. Gearing could be 4.11 for a 4 cyl or 3.73? for a 6 cyl.
