Hello everyone, it’s been a while since my last post here here but I have a very sad (to me) announcement to make. My “other” CJ build, after decades in the making, will not be. My local DMV refused to give it a model year, therefore, I cannot get a title to it, yes, I have tears in my eyes. I am forced to part it out.

It has a professionaly and beautifully modified frame with a SBC engine, AA adaptation to Muncie 4 speed, D18, Dana 44 /27, just for basic description.

cant you just use ur original title and title it as a street rod

No. I had legal possession of a title with my deceased uncle’s name but they wouldn’t budge.

Wow ! What state are you in !

the SBC u mentioned is it the 6.2 LS listed on your profile?

I am in TX. It had more to do with the young neophyte law enforcement inspector. I took it to him twice and insisted it had to have a 13 digit vin, when it is a 1958. Back then they went by the factory serial number.

Manic, the SBC LS 6.2 on my profile is on my 82 CJ5 daily driver. This one has a classic gen 1. I do have an identical high mileage LS L92 on an engine stand, if you are interested.

any chance you can get it titled in another state and then just simply do a title transfer

i might be interested in the motor

I'm with CJ...I'd keep digging

Bound to be a way

They do salvage titles here...had a truck years ago that had one. Basically a reassigned VIN by the state.

Might be worth a look

Thanks for all those resources, CJ. Titling it in another state like Manic said is definitely something I will consider. I am still digging, but doesn’t look too promising. We’ll see.

let us know if we can help. all states have different rules. i know in MD i just walk in say hi i need this titled they look at the age and ask how much I paid for it and that's the end I get a title in the mail several weeks later
