Need help with year and identification

I have a friend whose grandfather just passed away and has a pair of jeeps they are looking to sell. I really wasn't looking for a project but the price may be right and I've always wanted a Jeep. Unfortunately, I've only got a couple of pictures of one of them and none of the other. The one that I do have pictures of has a door/hardtop configuration I've never seen before (although I'm not well versed in Jeeps). To my untrained eye it looks like a mid 70's CJ5 ??? Any help is appreciated in narrowing down the model and hardtop configuration. Just looking for something to play around with but if anyone can see something glaringly wrong with it please speak up. Thanks in advance.

The front fenders tell me it pre-72.

Can you get the VIN number?

That will the the whole story.

I see the vin tag on the fire wall post of the numbers.

With those Limited pics I'd say 68 or earlier, not 70.

Thanks for the replies so far. I thought it was an older CJ5 since I didn't see a gas filler cap behind the drivers door. Unfortunately the Jeep is in Maine and I'm in the Buckeye state. I'll try to get the VIN and will post when I get it.
