Hi,
I want to buy a new 15 gal fuel tank for my 79 CJ7 , the question is from which supplier.
I found Crown, Dorman, Spectra Premium, and Platinum Pro, the same for the fuel level sender.
Price is not the issue here, I just want to make sure to buy one that fits very well without modifications needed and quality is good.
Any advise which to take is appreciated...
Thanks

Avoid any made in China.

I can't suggest any manufacturers, but you do have to pick going to plastic or steel. Aluminum is another possibility though. What material you choose can really be debatable.

from somewhere I have Spectra Premium in mind, nevertheless I lack substantial information here.
what would be top of the line, if Crown is the bottom?

O.K. There is a guy in my part of the world who will custom make one out of aluminum or stainless, but does list this one:AeroTanks - Jeep 1921
Good luck with your research and post which one you choose. BTW, in the past I have had an issue with a replacement fuel tank pickup sock clogging up and did see one made from stainless. That I will get next time.

OK, ordered a Crown now, as it has a bunch of only positive reviews at Morris...
Will post my experience...

Rob at Willys Works has found some problems with Crown tanks. Make sure to pressure check your tank before using it. Don't go blowing it up, a little air goes a long ways. Frankly I don't have a clue as to how to properly plug the holes in your tank. Here in the US new gas caps aren't vented, so it might be as easy as putting a new cap on the tank, using a couple plugged hoses one with a Schrader valve in it, then add a few pounds of air and wait.
