About the need to clock your ignition/dist. Mrplaybass had a great solution that I might endup doing with my DUI distributor AMC V8. He used a longer than stock power steering pump belt to help clear the PS Pump.

The routing ot the pressure line is a difficult situation. If done like a stock CJ the line makes an almost impossible 90* bend right off the steering gear end fitting. While mine works alright I've been considering doing some sheet metal surgery on the sheet metal right above the gear and next to the radiator.

I don't think I could recover from that if that were mine. Just putting that out there
i could.

But only if I switched to an agreed upon value insurance carrier.... :D

Engine fires were an issue with the late model CJ's w/6cyl engines. Due to placement of the fuel filter directly above the exhaust header. At one the NTSB even opened an investigation into this.

I couldn't. I guess since I've had mine since day 1, mine is more like a piece of me.

Well, pressure hose rerouted. No leaks I think. Seemed easy. Donno why I didn't do that from the beginning. Now, I gotta fix this timing issue. Motor is hard to start and runs like :dung:. I am convinced it's timing since I mucked with the dizzy. When I get a chance, I'm gonna pull it, and start from scratch. Oy.

Oh, and I gotta say I love the power steering. *grins*

You sure the hard start/rough run is not from vacuum leaks?
Before you mess with the dizzy-Do you have a timing light?
LG

I do. Got a full tune up kit with timing light, vac/pressure guage, and tach/volt/dwell meter. Just need to figure out how to use it all. Lol.

I'm pretty sure that it's all dizzy related since it was working fairly well before I clocked the dizzy. But I'm not ruling out vac leak either.

Good to hear on the gear. :chug:
Ask away on how to use the gear.
Was there no instructions included in this kit?
LG

There are some. I didn't have time to really look at them. By the time I got my hands on the kit, I had to clean up and get ready for a 48h shift on the ambulance. Which is where I am right now.

Know well of that hard life and thank you.
My oldest granddaughter is an EMT and just passed her paramedic tests. She just applied to the FD.

I'm also a Lt with my local Vfd. It's kinda nerve wracking to go into a house fire when you have been soaked by a fuel leak and covered in engine oil and grease. Lol.

Congrats to your granddaughter. And best of luck with her FD.

Quick update, retimed the dizzy to TDC on cylinder 1 and gave it a nudge. Motor fired right up and timing light showed about 5-7degrees BTDC without vac advance hooked up. Running good. Now onto fixing wiring. Lol.

THX for the update-Glad the Jeep is run'n good now.
Make sure that dizzy clamp bolt is TIGHT.

Nice looking Jeep. The inside of your turnout gear must be nice if you're jumping into it all greased up... :p

Lol Maximus. Because of that, I tend to wash it fairly often. Thanks for the Jeep compliment.

Well, looks like I'm doing that interior rewire sooner than later. Lost brake lights, turn signals went wonky, and dash lights quit. So this happened:
