Hi Guys, I recently became the proud owner of an 86 CJ7 . Loving it so far, it has a f-glass tub, I am looking to add a full cage to it, I stopped by to see my local Jeep guy who has done great work for us in the past years on a wrangler I used to have. Just curious if any of you have added a full cage, with frame tie in's, and paid someone to fully fabricate/prime and paint for you.. have no idea what to expect as far as $$ goes, so just trying to prepare myself. Thanks!!

Thanks for the profile note. I went in and it was complete as far as the first part goes, I just went in and added some "stuff about me" and my ride. Hope that's all I needed to do, rather confusing a bit... I thought I had done it a while back.. hopefully this is good enough now to get going on some forum questions/answers..

I just did a quick google search, and found a few prices on kits. Really, it will depend on how custum you want to make it. There are plenty of companies out there that have prebuilt bolt in kits, so that would be good to look at in comparison. I would venture a guess of around 1500-2000 for someone to build and install it for you. I saw some at one point when I was searching for around 1000, full cage. That was a few months back. If no one else posts up, I will do some more digging to give you a better reference.

I had a shop add to my stock bar and tie it into the frame at 6 points, it cost me $700 about 3 or 4 years ago.

Old Dog I want to do about the same to my rollbar.
Question; do you ever knock your head or knee's getting in.
I'm a big boy and that would be my concern.
Also, does it interfior(sp?) with a hard top?

I'm 6' and don't have any trouble getting in, but I did pad them as they are pretty close to my head when driving.
Not sure about the hardtop as I don't have one.
