Has anyone had much luck stopping the rear main leak on the AMC v8.I paid to get mine fixed, it held for about. a month the started dripping again. If there is a permenant fix. Please help!

Sounds about right. I hate rear main oil leaks. if and when the the crank gets scored from years of the seal rubbing on it it seems to never want to stop leaking

Nothing is permanent with rubber seals. If the crank was scorned enough where it was possible a new seal would leak the mechanic should have said as much before installing it. If nothing was mentioned there is a chance it was damaged while installing it. You have to be extra careful installing the top seal to guard against damaging it. So far the ones I've done have sealed.

You paid for a fix, I would suggest you go back to your mechanic and give him another chance to stop the leak. Of course this depends on what was discussed between you and your mechanic before/during the job.

as was mentioned above,if the crank is worn then just a new seal probably won't stop it
