Old school Chevy 350

Old school Chevy 350
My father was always leaned toward the 327 or 400. He also mentioned having the heads shaved. I haven't seen this mentioned yet. So, is this actually beneficial and how? Thanks, back to being a sponge. :D

shaving the heads just raised the compression..I prefer just doing it with a little high compression pistons..327 is the same engine as the 350 with a little shorter stroke..327 is 3.25" stroke and the 350 is 3.48..400 is a completely different block

. These two books are worth their weight in gold for chevy enthusaists

Good on you to share.I have always felt that I am not the brightest guy in the room, but if we have the ability to read and follow instructions a person can accomplish any goal.I was away from automotive activities up till 1996 when I bought the 1969 CJ5 .Alot of it came back and I had to learn a lot of new stuff. The Ford FE 427 was a very steep learning curve.I did the built TWICE because it wasn't done correctly the first time. That is all on me ,no one else.So getting back to the original post on building a old school chevy.
READ,READ,and read somemore. And don't trust that guy down the street that knows all about sbc motors.Double check everything and find a great machinest that is interested in YOUR project not his bottom line.Have fun with your build. :chug: mike s.
