OMG Should I restore this? And another Cj-7 as well.

OMG Should I restore this? And another Cj-7 as well.
Its a personal preference and she wants to get behind the wheel off-road. She doesnt want to have " all that going on" as she put it while shes concentrating. Plus it gets me multiple Cjs. I learned from the last time I had more than one though. ;) The Limited will be my project.

The yet to be determined Cj will be a solid moderate daily driver / weekend warrior. We'll share seat time at Rausch Creek on camping weekends. We are also planning one long distance trip as well. All we need to do now is find the right Cj. Theres one in town here we're working on and it may not be long before I announce another addition. :)
Pete, forgive me if you have answered this before or just don't think it an appropriate question but why not just teach Vick o drive a stick? If it is a physical limitation I more than understand.... (says the man who can't open a soda bottle sometimes ;) )

Pete, how close are you the Raush creek.

I can be there in about an hour and a half. Theres a great campsite real close or you can camp at the park as well.

Congrats Pete. Hey whatever happened to getting a willys p/u

Trouble getting the title from the original owner. That coupled with the long trip led to the demise of that plan. Then some unexcpected bills , Christmas...

There was also a different 83 CJ7 I was supposed to grab for $700 that was more of a project. The Limited is only a few miles away from me , has a way more solid tub , moves under its own power and has a certain cool factor to me so the extra $800 was well worth it in my opinion.

Sounds like you got it worked out. Ill share my next grand idea with you. Imagine a dj5 on 35s, stretched just a hair Dana 44 front 9" rear 4.3 v6 4 speed and a Dana 300 . Complete with postal service graphics. Gonna call it "hauling the mail" :D

Well thanks alot you guys. You made me go and buy a Jeep.

Got there and talked with Bill who is a older fella and a truck driver. Between our two schedules I wont be able to pick it up till next Saturday though. We shook hands ( he wouldnt take a deposit ) and he put in his garage. :chug:

I took a 3 lb hammer and screwdriver with and went over the frame. Its flakey in the rear by the shackles but still solid. I had mentioned the finicky Carter BBD carb on the phone and he assured me the motor would be cold when I got there. He made me check it and it was definately cold to the touch. I wont lie 3 pumps of the pedal and it turned over but stalled. Another bump of the key revealed the smoothest running all emissions there AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I have ever heard. It was about 25 degrees out.

The bad part is the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l doesnt hold oil pressure on longer trips , like 50 miles or more. Work is only 13 miles away and Im only going to drive it a little anyway. Im thinking cam bearings and will look into a short block rebuild. Other than that it seems mechanically sound.

The body tub had some floors replaced but they were done pretty nicely. I didnt get any pics but dont worry you'll see plenty once I get it home.

The parts list is pretty nice as well. The original Limited seats come with it!! The front buckets are a bit dirty but I didnt see any rips. Id get these cleaned by a pro. Theres also a complete set of YJ seats as well. He also has the "Limited " emblems , carpet and some nice Jeep center caps.

I tried $1200 before I saw the other stuff he was giving me. Then I felt like a real jerk. His asking price is worth it to me. The deal is done.

Thanks for spending my money guys. :notworthy:

LOVE IT !!!
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS BUILD !!!!

Id still do it if I were you , its pretty cool.

Well as mentioned in the above post Vicki is at it again. A little while back she found an auto Cj that was just a bit out of our price range. It wasnt the red one we pictured in another thread. Due to someones random act of kindness and generosity thats no longer the case. Im sworn to secrecy on the persons identity but wanted to express that I am extremely grateful. You know who you are. :D

On to the Cj. For some odd reason Vicki didnt get a picture of the Jeep for herself. The description I got is its green with a brown hardtop. Its lifted with atleast 33s and its an auto. Its also supposed to be rust free. The guy is gonna run it by my place this weekend for me to go over. I'll post up another thread with pics as soon as I can.

Id also like to thank my dearest Vicki. There are so many guys I hear saying there significant other just :censored: and moan about their Jeeps constantly. You see all the Craigslist and Ebay ads saying the wife wants this poor Jeep gone.

Mine sniffs them out and makes me buy 2 within a week or 2. Shes just evil. :notworthy:

Frame off builds are the best!!!!:chug:

Honestly yours is one of the ones I watch and has made me wanna take this project on. Thanks for sharing. There are a few nice build threads here that are very helpful and informative. :notworthy:

Sounds like Vicki is getting a better jeep than you. :D

I know what you mean about wifes, while Ginger doesn't want one (thank goodness) she does really enjoy trail riding and doesn't :censored: to much about the money we spend on the cj.

Oh shes leaps and bounds ahead for now. Lucky for me I'll have hers to drive while mine is in pieces. :) She gets the Sable Wagon till then. I know her though , she'll get plenty of seat time in it as well. It'll be interesting seeing how it shakes out when its off road driving. I have faith she'll be fine. :)

The Jeep gods are smiling on us for now thats for sure. Vicki may just convince Ginger she needs one ;)

Fixed it for ya :D

Oh Hell No!!!!

Once both Cjs are here it'll make getting up at this ungodly hour for work worth it.Something about your alarm clock going off at 1 am that just doesnt seem right.

Its always a 5 day 24 hr operation. Right now we only have off every other weekend. We also have to cover for people who are out on other shifts so Im working 3 am to 3pm 3 days a week as well. I wouldnt be buying 2 Cjs right after Christmas if we werent thats for sure. Theres big money in Pet Food these days.
