Build Thread Operation Sky Blue Water Trip Build
Those are some nice upgrades!

Time for my annual thread bump with the current/fluid list of to-do's for the year. I have a lot on tap this year, and have been stockpiling parts. This year I hope to get the following (in NO particular order) done:

  • MSD 6A ignition upgrade - all parts on-hand
  • Holley Sniper EFI kit
  • OME YJ Lift
  • Winch - most parts on-hand
  • On-board air - most parts on-hand
  • Re-paint / re-decal - most parts on hand
  • Repair spare tire carrier - all parts on hand
  • Install Transmission -Go shift kit
  • Carefully remove all OEM emissions equipment
I also have a 78 Cherokee S four-door that's coming on-board as a tow vehicle, so that will need a bit of TLC, but it will be secondary to any CJ work. Basic fluid changes, tune-up, extensive wash and detail, new shocks, wheels and tires and either paint or extensive Meguire's buffing ;-)
:lpopcorn:
Looking forward to seeing the progress!
Just started cleaning up the mess from the home improvement projects in the shop today so that we can start on our annual CJ improvements. Might be doing some fuel related mods ourselves this year.

Pictures of your Cherokee when you can please. :)

I'm cleaning the garage again to pull the Jeep back in after a couple days use. Once in, it's time to begin the upgrades. Pulling off smog equipment, adding the MSD box, new coil, Edelbrock intake, and the EFI. I'll do some engine bay painting and some engine painting too.

I bought a bunch of these to tag and / or bag everything.

Yeah there's quite a bit of them, I think it was 1000 for 40 bucks from Amazon. I'd rather have too many than not enough that's for sure, I'm sure I'll find other uses for them.

Save some of that thin wire to clean carburetor passages. When carb cleaner and compressed air just isn't enough, the wire is the only way and it won't hurt a thing.

I won't trash anything, but hopefully my carb cleaning days are over...except for maybe the Cherokee...and only for now...:D

So I've stated my EFI and MSD6 project. I started with changing intake manifolds to accommodate the Holley Sniper EFI.

I sandblasted th valve covers as well.

Had to modify the oil shield to make it fit the Edelbrock intake with EGR provision.

Painted my valve covers with Dupli-Color Torque-n-Teal.

Finally got the intake installed.

Sweet!

Finally got the valve covers on. Now to finish plumbing the intake and the wire in the MSD6 before installing the Sniper.

Thank you! That means a lot coming from you two... I could only wish to do the quality of work you get done up there.:notworthy:

I'll have my fittings and so forth back on the intake this weekend, then I'm going to remove my HEI ignition and mount the MSD6 and then hopefully have Holley tech support babysit me for a bit...

That thing looks huge sitting on the intake!
Nice progress!

Tonight I finished putting on the bracket that stabilizes the air compressor, the coil mount, vac switch for the EGR, thermostat and housing and the rear coolant line fitting. I also removed my HEI setup and cleaned where the 6A will sit.

Still trying to source one vacuum fiitting for the Transmission vacuum line then it on to running fuel line and installing the fuel pump.

Once that's done I'll mount the throttle body and begin wiring.

The closest machine shop should have the brass vacuum fitting you need.

I have the original but with the new intake the steel line doesn't reach so I'm going with a 1/8npt to 3/16 barb and using a few inches of rubber line to meet the steel one.

Yes, we did talked about this previously, and the rubber to metal is how my 78 with aftermarket intake was setup.
