Replace the plug with a couple high quality, I like the water proof heat shrink ones, female spade foot connector. This is an on/off switch that doesn't care which side the connector is attached. What it does I have no clue, but that configuration of switch is sprinkled all over a CJ.

There is a red wire and a red/white tracer wire coming out of it. It is a pressure switch for the bowl vent solenoid, choke heater relay, mixture control solenoid, and the idle relay. That emissions stuff.

Can some one let me know what part this is for my 1982 CJ7? I need to replace the female end of the plug as the wire broke and there is no room to splice it back together. Thank you

That makes sense and you are right on with the colors. I guess that is why it won't start with out it. Thank you. Is there a name for this part?

It is identified as a p/s pressure switch, whatever that means, looking at a wiring diagram. I really don't see why it would effect starting though.

The can on the left is the oil pressure sending unit for your dash's gauge.
They item on the right is some type of oil pressure switch. What it's for-I have no clue.
Brent-Maybe you should post some info on your jeep, so we have a starting point to help you.
See if you find it here-

If I had to guess...and I will. It may be an added oil temp. sending unit that has nothing to do with starting. But, just a guess. Let us know what you finally figure out. Rod
