Cleared a major hurdle today!
First smog inspection since adding my Mopar system, Cherokee header, 4.0 head. The first question he had was don't I need to go to a referee first? Well since he asked me I told him no that the E.O. # is right there on the new emissions sticker and that drama gets bypassed. Then while going over it with a fine tooth comb he asked if it was a "header" or stock exhaust to witch I replied "stock"( it is stock on another Jeep lol), then asked why I had one of the 2 oxygen ports plugged on the "stock" header to witch I added that the new system deleted some of the old equip(whitch it does). After a few more questions he proceded with the testing and after all said and done it passed with high marks!
It was in the bottom 5% of all the allowable emissions tested so it does run super clean now.
YaHoo!:chug:

Congrats on pleasing the smog nazis :grinjeep:

Well done !! I also just passed mine Saturday. What a relief !
:notworthy: :chug:

Yes it was a releif!
Found my old test results from the original configuration...
At 2500 rpm the old HC ppm= 51 the new HC ppm= 6
the old CO%= 2.5 and the new CO%= .4
Pretty nice since so much CJ exhaust ends up in the cabin, top down anyway.

Were the smog Nazis impressed with these numbers?

The tester said they were very good but I had to ask him for his input.
This is a very anoying aspect of the carb (ca. air resource board) the rules are so strict that I was nearly failed before it was found how pollution free I was. Government at it's best!
Oh well should be good for another 2 years.

Sadly the :censored:'s at CARB dont see those #'s as a vast improvement. They test the Mopar MPI using later model stats. Just smogged mine the other day, passed, but the tester confirmed what I already knew that the requirements for our Mopar converted engines must meet mid/late 90's standards, instead of much less stringent early 80's standards. Instead of seeing the vast improvement from the upgrade and applauding, CARB raised the bar. While some emissions are greatly reduced with the upgrade, the one's that havent changed become the problem. #1 failure reason on this upgrade is NOX levels too high.

My test results do not show NOX values?

:notworthy: to you guys in CA. I have so many problems with mine here and it's no where near what you have to deal with.

Yes we do have the smog police here in Cali...soon the world.

I didn't get a print out so I don't know what mine was at, but NOX was what the tester told me I had to worry about with our set up.
