Engine PCV valve too long for 1986 CJ7

Hi all, I am having an issue with my Jeep and changed all the spark plugs and noticed that my Pcv valve was sticking out kind of weird. The grommets were significantly deteriorated so I changed both the Pcv valve grommet and the Pcv elbow grommet. I thought the valve was sitting funny because of the grommet but it turns out the valve itself is too long and won’t go all the way down before bottoming out. Everything I find is the exact same valve that I have but the nipple part at the bottom makes it too long. Am I losing it? I posted a pic to show how much it originally stuck out. Could mine possible be a different valve? I see shorter ones without that extra length but it says it’s for a 6 cylinder and that it won’t fit my jeep. For reference, it’s a 1986 CJ7 4cyl

I don't think it would actually make a difference if it's for the 6 or 4 TBH. Truthfully I think a generic off the shelf unit should work just fine

I had a 4 cylinder 84 for a few decades. Now i have a 6 cylinder. I don’t really remember the bottom protruding that much, but it’s been awhile since. Take that one to the parts store, maybe a different one, and see what they come up with.

As stated, just about any auto parts store should have a short one.

The 4-cylinder calls for a MicroGard PCV-200 (has the extra hose connection on bottom) and the 6-cylinder calls for the PCV-260. The PCV valve is supposed to be closed or very close to closed at idle when vacuum is higher and then open up as vacuum is reduced to evacuate any blow-by gases. This is accomplished with different flow rate and spring rate ratings in the PCV valves to better match the idle vacuum of the engine. The PCV valves for the 4 and the 6 cylinder are identical in operation and diameter, both having a max flow rate of about 4.5cfm. Literally the only difference is the bottom portion designed for a second hose connection.
