Planning the 7th Annual Jeep-CJ Trail Ride
Bass!!!

I may not be able to wait until then and schedule a spring CO trip.

Bobby and Blacky have booked at Comfort Inn
Ooooooo! Tempting...................very tempting! But probably should get a few other thing done first!:(

...not a lot of trails open until June either...:(

I guess it would be less than fair to say that todays temp is already 74 and climbing, with the forecast for the next two weeks to be in the 70s and 60s. March is our snowiest month usually. But that's the Springs for ya. The mountains have indeed received their share of the white stuff and the peaks to the west have stayed snow covered for most of the winter. Don't tell anyone though, people might decide to move here.

EXACTLY what I'm looking to do...:D

My whole family is ready to go at a moments notice. Just still looking for work there...:bang:

Let me start by saying that I have zero experience in the mountains but do know what its like to pass a large group on a wooded trail. I like the idea of splitting into 2 groups. With the 2nd group starting 30 min to an hour after the 1st and do the same trails. This way we could mix and match the groups throughout the week if wanted.

My group is at 80% on the attendance as of now. Long story short is that I work in an industry where my schedule could change between now and August. Anyways, there could be 2 or 3 jeeps in my group so if its needed we could split off into our own group and I could lead. That way it wont put a damper on the regular group.

I've been looking into an external GPS and trail apps for my ipad. Anyone have experience with "All Trails"? I noticed that Busadave uses Spotwalla so that is another option as well. Sorry for the novel and look forward to the trip in August!

You surely would not put a damper on the group. We have a few that have been on these trails many times that could lead the 2nd group. I'm still not sure. Lots of participants want to ride in one big group if it is feasible.

EDIT: I now think we have about 16 jeeps and 23 people:

Please let me know if there are any discrepancies with my list.

With 15 jeeps already and maybe 20 by trail ride time I can't imagine leading one big group.

It would be fun to stick together but 15-20 jeeps might be like herding a bunch of cats.

"HogHead" on here is @ 80% is our #2 jeep. I call him BaldHead and my wife calls him Dad.

Wahoooo!

My vote is, focus on everyone getting to the early morning meet up (breakfast, before/during/shortly after)! If you're there then you're on the route. If there's 15 jeeps, then we split into leaders. I vote for the crazy guy from MA and Dave, but am open to what the group feels comfortable with.

We all do the same trail at the same time. From experience, not everyone will make it to the trail when it's time to go. So we adapt. If you're there and the group is ready to go, go. There's comfort in knowing the next group will be ready shortly.

Impossible to have 1 person responsible for 15+ jeeps, but we can all begin and end at the same place on the same trail.

Either way, i'm the last one if there's 1 group or 5 groups so easy for me to say.

I am going to call Bill out though, with all that Army knowledge you have to give us some pointers and make sure our camp is setup straight. Pass it down! I'm bringing my tent, bring yours just in case you have too much fun!

If the amphitheater camping is for real, i'm interested, let me know.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

BEN!!! Glad to see you are joining us again this year! I was just about to ask Dave if he had told you when we were going. Hope you are able to stay longer this year!
Crazy guy from MA? He's not crazy, it's character!

:-)

I meant that in the most endearing way!

Comfort Inn was $170/nt. I ended up booking Hotel Ouray for $125/nt. I have a call into Historic Western for a room for $35-$70/nt. Also, going to research the Amphitheater camping option.

Hey Ben! I think the Matterhorn is open again. It was remodeled last year as I understand it. It's close to me and Shooby at River's Edge as well as Comfort Inn.

I voted early, sounds like fun won't make it but will see on CJ . Com. Wow I wish I was going to be there. I'm pretty jealous. Hope to make it in the next couple years when mine will be ready for high altitude

Hey guys! First time poster, long time jeeper. I'm looking to make this trip and have a good time. I saw the pics, read the thread, and put in for the time off almost immediately. Just the engine taken care of and about to get the rear axle rebuilt. Thanks guys for giving me an itch I won't be able to scratch until I reach Colorado!

I voted maybe, but the outlook is good.

Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to meeting you in Colorado.

:punk:Looking good!

Obstacle number one is out of the way.
My wife is retiring as a teacher this year.
No more back to school for her in mid August.
We now have just one more obstacle to figure out.

But...we are now elevated to 90% sure we will be there.
:D:D:D

This is going to be quite the party fellas (and ladies!)
