Pops out of third

Pops out of third
I've always believed that to copy or mimic is one of the greater forms of flattery. When the car designers took up the challenge of easily allowing a modest skirt wearing woman access to the Jeepers world they came up with CJ7 , which we all know were the prelude to the Wrangler many women love.

....... Dude I'm playing here, while they are extensively modified from the CJ5 , the CJ7 still had most of the moving parts of the CJ5 , but in a more comfortable package.

No, no, no….. A girl in a mini skirt had access to a CJ5 while still keeping her modesty. My then girlfriend (now wife) would just back up to door opening, I would pick her up by the waist and set her butt on the seat and swing her legs in. Granted it takes a second person but neither one of us was complaining. :chug:

:) I didn't say a cowgirl that was ready to ride couldn't get in a Jeep. I'm thinkin' mommy with kids and a dog skooting around suburbia.

It was pretty funny watching my 70 year old mother trying to get in my CJ5 . And I wasn't going to try and pick her up by the waist and put her in the seat. It would not have ended well ;)

Aaaawwwww, that's Sweet :-)
When I had my little '67 back in the 80's, my boss' Dad who was in his 80's at the time, used to hang around the restaurant 'til I got off work just so I' d drive him home in my Jeep. He'd hang on for dear life and just have a Blast the whole way...

OP here...
The tranny has been giving us more problems. It just grinds trying to go into reverse and after a long ride it does not want to shift at all.
So I am at looking at getting it rebuilt or doing it myself.
How tough is it to rebuild these?
It is the four speed with the granny first.

T18s not bad to rebuild. The key is to keep all the parts lined up in the right order while on the bench. No time like the present to dive in.

Pay attention to what comes in them. Most all will not include the gears. some are considered refresh kits with just seals etc. Rebuild kits should be bearings etc and all the seals etc.

If you find a really really cheaper kit somewhere, changes are there is a reason...

Parts for the T18 & T19 Transmissions

Novak's Kits I've been happy with for the Transfer Case rebuild... Instructions were helpful as well. there are a lot of different kits shown there for the T-18 and they list with astricks all the items included with their master rebuild kits etc.

:chug:

Have you tried bump'n it in 2nd gear before go'n to reverse?
Reverse is non-syncro. Like 1st is--

Do you mean put it in 2nd before you try to go into reverse?

Yes-Push in clutch all the way-bump into 2nd while still push'n the clutch down against the floor, engage reverse.
Same thing for 1st --

Oh, you mean like it starting a CJ5 vs CJ7 debate? It appears that is typical with any Jeep component. ;)
