I'm finally getting around to doing the switch-out on my front diff. Going from a Powr-lok to an Eaton E-locker.

I've followed the advice of Hedgehog and Lumpy, and am getting help with the gear set-up. I found a local diff guy who will come to my shop, after I have everything torn down and ready to go, set up the gears, drink a beer:chug:, and go home with a little change in his pocket, leaving me to button everything back up.

Someone, I think it was LG, suggested I rebuild the LSD. After it's removed, I'd like to do just that. I've been able to find rebuild kits for the bigger Dana axles, but no Powr-lok rebuild kits for the Dana 30 . Do any of you guys know of any place that sells these? Or, can I just buy clutch plates separately? What else do I need?

I'd like the experience of rebuilding it, and it would be nice to recoup a few bucks on the project by selling it. Any help is much appreciated.

Parts for the Dana 30 Power Lok are scarce.
The clutch pack is the same as D25 and D27 front axles.
The spider gears are almost unobtanium.
The "little" or Dana 30 rear axle out of Jeepster Commando sometimes will be found with these units. Most of the Jeepster guys prefer Dana 44 axles so if you can find a used rear Dana 30 out of a Jeepster with a Power Lok, there is one source for parts.
So take care of that Power Lok.

Ford Bronco(early)used D/30 and had a LSD option.
IH used D/30 in the Scouts.
Looks like the clutch kits have dried up for the '30'.
One way to test your PL is the breakaway test. Mounted in the axle, have one wheel on the ground. Then with the other wheel off the ground, put a torque wrench on the lifted wheel lug nut. Turn the wheel with the t'wrench and see at what torque setting the wheel spins. Anything above 35 ft/lbs and the PL is work'n fine.
