Build Thread Project " Un " Limited

Build Thread Project " Un " Limited
Lookong good keep up the good work. Cant wait to see it completed.
:notworthy:

I got the last piece of the Limited package that Im going to use today. Its a bit beat up but cost me about a case of beer for the console only made for 82 -83 Limiteds with my color interior. Anyhow I believe it will tie everything together nicely.

Its been a little tough emotionally around here with my dog getting ill and passing. Its going to be hard to go down in the garage without breaking down since he used to come down there with me. Ive gotta get out of here and do something though. Thankfully the tub is at my brothers and Im headed up there tomorrow to put in a little work. Pics to follow but heres my ebay prize for now:

Finally started working on the tub for the Limited . While the Yj tub is in better shape than the original thats on it it does need plenty or work. Today we started with the passenger side floor pan. Heres a look at the floors. Not pretty.

The 1st pic is the passenger side and the 2nd is a lovely repair that was done by a previous owner to the drivers side. Well after a bunch of game planning , measuring and marking it was time to start letting the sparks fly.

By the time the sparks died down there wasnt much left. And the passenger side was the "good" side. Alot was cut away but the countours of the Transmission tunnel were left intact.

Then alot of test fitting and trimming and more trimming. This panel shot was around trim number 4. It ended up alot different but it got pretty late. Next visit will be installing the pan and boatside on that side.

Its getting almost bearable enough weather wise to be in the garage. This Winter has been horrible. Anyhow a wiff of warm air has me scouring Craigslist. I ran across this and am thinking about it. I'll post more details in a thread in the drivetrain forum.

!!!350 CHEVY ENGINE!!! Heres the text from the ad:

I have a earlier chevy 350 engine for sale. The engine came out of a 1972 chevy pickup which had about 82,000 miles on it . block #3970010 and on the head ko813 TYZ. The motor ran good. It has a two barrel intake and carb on it now. I was going to use it in my hot rod that I am building, but decide to go all out on a hi-performance 350 with a tri -power set up. Motor comes as pictured except I need the alternator. Can deliver if needed. Asking $300.00 or OR BEST OFFER. CALL 610-767-0193. THANKS..

Well I never grabbed that engine posted above. It did get me to stop going back and forth on what engine I want to use. Im definately going with a Small Block Chevy now. Today I got the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l pulled out of the Limited . Just to ensure I dont change my mind I put the little 6 cyl on Craigslist. Theres a guy picking it up in 1/2 an hour. :)

sounds like your committed now. :chug:

Sure am , the Craigslist guy showed up and off it went. It was actually past time to make that decision. I eventually want to tow a small trailer of camping gear behind it through the mountains around here so dumping the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l makes sense. Guess I need to change my profile again. :D

Im also being more realistic. With everything going on around here with kids and life in general Im hoping to have the body and frame done this year. Anything more is bonus.

Hello Petescj, just spent some time reading through your build thread. I must admit, you are doing a whole heck of a lot of work on that jeep, but looks like it's coming along good.
I have to laugh, not at you, but at the space we have to work in. I have a two car carport that will NEVER be big enough to work in. I cannt tell you how many times I've tripped over an axle.
Keep the pictures coming, enjoying your build.

Thanks Rj67cj6. Id really like to enjoy working on it more. I was out of work a few weeks and that depleted all my Jeep fund again. Its not helping that my brother went back to work now and our schedules arent lining up at all. I was going to pull the tub this weekend but the Laredo decided to dump a couple issues on me. Thats the D.D. so it gets the attention first.

I will get back at it relatively soon though. My garage is definately narrow in the area I have the Limited in. By tucking it back there I can still keep both Cjs in the garage though. The last Cj I did I didnt even have a garage so Im grateful for what I have now. :) I did it all outside and while I had plenty of room the weather wreaked havok on that project alot. Ive been watching your build as well. The rolling chassis looks good.:chug:

Thanks, I work a 7/7 schedule so I'm able to spend some good time on it. The engine is coming along good, and the tranny should be back from the shop soon.

I cann't imagine working on the jeep with no cover or anything. You must really love doing it. This is my second frame off resto and I'm learning a lot. I really enjoy the forum, good information and picture references.
