Next I am going to clean, reseal, and paint engine. Already started coating accy's..
Any ideas on adding a skidplate to the oil pan?

You could take the easy way out and use a oil pan from slam dapt. ( sp.) They sell them through Quadratec and 4wd hardware I believe. Basically just a skid built into the pan.

I don't know if this is factory, but someone used nuts on the inside of frame for p/s box. Of course the nuts just turned and I couldn't find anything to keep them from spinning as they were inside the frame.(boxed and capped up front) So I made an access panel that I will have to fill later. Also removed tre's. Fun night, but I got some aggravation out with a hammer!:)

That sure doesn't look like a fun time... My steering box bracket bolts have regular nuts on the back but my frame isn't capped.

Let me guess. Is it the last of the 3 bolts towards the firewall?

I believe hes talking about the 3 that hold the steering box bracket on the frame up by the front bumper. Someone mustve had mine down at one time cause there is an acsess hole for 1 of them. I too questioned if this was stock. I would think at the very least captured nuts wouldve been used there. I'll know if mine just spin on Sunday.

I know on my 83 a couple just spun. I had to make a hole to get a wrench in the frame to hold them. I think Jeep just spot welded them in or something.

What did you have to do to make the hood ridged enough to have it lift back to the body? Also, did you have any clearance issues with the front wheels? I would really like to have my nose tilt back instead of forward to have the ability to have a wench. My hood is so flimsy though.

Any advice is appreciated!:chug:

This is the project that caused a short delay in the jeep project. XJBikes.com › Forums › XJBikes Talk › General Lounge › Finally finishing an old project I almost have this project done and should be getting back into the 4 wheel bug. The economy unfortunately caused a halt to the jeep project. I am a Toyota technician. They have created a few extra hours for me. You MAY have heard about their recall? Just maybe? The recalls will keep me busy for about a year. I hate to get work that way, but it will provide alot of hours and therefor dollars. I spent less then $500 building this bike. As you guys know, $500 doesn't get you very far on a jeep. You should start seeing some progress on the cj project in the next few months.

glad to see you back on here.

Glad to see that the whole gas pedal thing actually worked out in your favor.

Welcome back.

Good to see you back :chug:
