I recently bought my old 1985 Jeep CJ7 back that I owned in 1998. Since selling it in 2003 the only things that were changed were the seats and the carburetor! It originally (1998) had a Holley 390 and ran great so that's what's going back on. I have a few questions that maybe some of you can answer that have similar setups.

1) Is there a right or wrong orientation to mount the carb to the intake? Pic 3 shows how it was mounted originally.

2) Is there a throttle bracket that works with the Holley and the Clifford? The one in pic 2 seems to have interference with the acc pump lever even though it seems to be part of the original setup. Don't like the need for extra gaskets.

3)What are the threaded holes on the bottom of the intake (directly below carb) for? Heater? My intake is NOT water jacketed. It's at least from 1995 or earlier.

4)Electric choke power feed....there is a female flat blade plug with red and red w/ white stripe wire near the brake booster. One of the wires has continuity with a wire on the oil pressure switch. Is that the original choke hookup?

5) Any other tips for setting up this carb?

That's on backwards. It should be facing the other way and fuel entering from the front.

I was running a MC 2100 (similar 2 barrel) now I have a Holley sniper EFI

Sorry for the poor pictures

What effect would spinning it 180 have? If anything I've seen pictures of them mounted sideways, which I would do if I had more room (brake booster)

If I did spin it the throttle bracket would flop to the fender side and may avoid the acc pump levers since cable would pull from a different side of the carb? Also, that would put the choke spring right over the exhaust.

Yes the choke was originally over the exhaust in the factory setup. As well as the throttle pulling from the fender side. The other thing it does is reduce the amount of fuel line running near the exhaust allowing it to be cooler.
