1979 Jeep CJ7 TH400 Automatic 258 I6 Quadratrac Amc 20 rear & Dana 30 front, 32 x 11.5 x 15 tires. Currently a Complete Custom Rebuild in progress.

Also I own a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, White, all stock with 4.0L. automatic, and police package. Best part of that is it came with leather seats! This package also has the NP242 Transfer Case, 8.25 rear end, and trailer towing package.
Was wondering what you guys that have QuadraTrac transfer cases have for the low range shifter? Do you have the OEM unit or something else? I haven't been able to find an OEM unit anywhere, but I'm not so sure I would like it anyway. Looks like to have to bend down to engage it. I will be using a cable shifter and mounting it to the floor of the Jeep.

I have the OEM :D

If you mount the cable shifter to the floor, you have to bend anyhow, haven't you?

Sorry, something here is turning my pic...

No, after market cable shifters usually have long arms on them, and I may end up mounting mine in a center console. After market doesn't bother me as my Jeep will be far from stock looking.

TOTALLY up to you - but it's only a slight drop of the shoulder to flip the OEM lever back and forth. I do mine with the Jeep stopped and engine shut off and it's just not a big deal. Again, that's me...

Secondly, I'm sure that Rudy's CJ's in Ohio would have an OEM setup for sale...

Thanks. I may check it out. I searched the internet for one for a couple of years now. For some reason there are hard to find. It's also been understood that all CJs came with the low range and the trucks had it as an option. Obviously that's not true since mine did not have one, or my tub is not the original. VIN matches the fame so I want to believe it is original. However many of the other parts came from different vehicles. Who knows!

PB, there is a low range shifter linkage and arm on ebay currently still I think. I was going to by it but ended up machining my own. I had the handle and mount but some PO had broke mine and just left it off. You can by the mounting plate somewhere online but cant remember, but I did see it.

Thank you, I will take a look at it. It may be a mode point though, since I'm converting the vacuum shift method of the QuadraTrac differential to a more reliable solution.

Let me know if you switch away from the vacuum switch method, I would love to acquire those parts somehow for spares.
I have now purchased 3-TH400s w/ quadratracs for a total of $400 so I will always have a back up or three!!
