Question Ignition Vacuum Advance

Hi there,
I am back with another question...
I am trying to source the vaccum advance unit for the Motorcraft Distributor (part no 323 3959).
The parts manual says gives me a number that I cannot find anywhere: 813 0029.
In the FSM I found that it should have a quite high distributor vaccum curve.
Is the advance related to springs inside or in other words does the unit itself
has the same characteristic as others or are they really different?

The advance is determined by the springs when vacuum isn't.

In most cases for a stock-ish motor the factory springs are fine. If I were you, I would probably just get another distributor and be done as opposed to sourcing the part and replacing it.

Actually I bought a NOS Motorcraft Distributor (323 3174), but it carries a different
vacuum advance (812 9470), the rest is the same in terms of part numbers.
The question is what isa the difference between the two vacuum advance units?

one could be adjustable and one could be fixed?

Plug the new dist. in and see how she works. My bet is that it will due just fine. Stamped part numbers change all the time.

Nevertheless, the vacuum advance curves are different...
