Rear dif

My turn to find out what I got. I tought I had the factory Dana 20 on the rear of my 84 CJ7 but after looking at the pics some of you posted here I found out that it is not so I'm posting those pics to know if someone can tell me what it is? Also, I had a plate kiving to me by the last owner anybody knows what it means, and finaly some pics to show where I'm at whit this project.

Dana 44 . Looks like a good project.

The AMC20 should have been in there(76-85) it was swapped out for a 86 CJ7 Dana 44 or a Scout Dana 44 .

Note: the Scout 2 Dana 44 is wider then the AMC20 and 86 CJ7 Dana 44
The axle shafts are the same on both side. Not so in a 86 Dana 44 .

After measuring I got the CJ7 86, Dana 44 , longer on one side than the other. Thank you all. Any idea on the silver plate and the letters??

Gear ratio's ? My 86 Had and I swear to this 2:73 gears. I had a buddy swapped in 3:73's.

in 86 everyone had to scramble to meet smog specs, and they had some strange ratios going on as the tech of fuel injection had not caught up yet.
Yes they did not bless those jeeps with off road friendly gears.
