My turn to find out what I got. I tought I had the factory Dana 20 on the rear of my 84 CJ7 but after looking at the pics some of you posted here I found out that it is not so I'm posting those pics to know if someone can tell me what it is? Also, I had a plate kiving to me by the last owner anybody knows what it means, and finaly some pics to show where I'm at whit this project.

After measuring I got the CJ7 86, Dana 44 , longer on one side than the other. Thank you all. Any idea on the silver plate and the letters??
 
Gear ratio's ? My 86 Had and I swear to this 2:73 gears. I had a buddy swapped in 3:73's.

in 86 everyone had to scramble to meet smog specs, and they had some strange ratios going on as the tech of fuel injection had not caught up yet.
Yes they did not bless those jeeps with off road friendly gears.
