Thank You thats a great idea on the brushes. They are not completely finished yet they still need to finish the hood, I took the yellow one up there, the other hood needed too much work. So they need to finish sanding that, and they still need to sand and buff the whole Jeep. Getting closer though, I really hope to have it by this weekend. The owner of the shop thought it looked fun so he went out and bought a new 4 door Jeep and he is looking for a lift and tires!!! Another convert!!!:chug:

i have restored 4 suzuki lt250r frame off and the paint was so heavy in the holes i was snapping the heads off of 10mm bolts! and with primer/sealer/several base coats and a clear coat or two im sure yours will be pretty gummed up. in a way its good because you know they painted it correctly not just a scuff and shoot. and any mixed metals should be seperated with thin rubber (bike inner tube pieces) or di-electric grease i have never used the grease but the rubber is great! i use it between hinges and body , anywhere two pieces of flat metal meet. especially with jeeps flexing and getting banged around we have lots of metal rubbing together :) sorry i ran on my brain kept thinking "assembly-tips"...

When I painted mine last time I put bolts back into the holes for spraying then pulled them out before the baking. No clean up needed...

Great job! What welder did you use? Also what heat and feed setting and wire size did you use?

Thank You, I used a Clark MIG Welder #95. I used the Flux Core .035 wire and I had it on the minimum setting and I had it between 4 and 5 on the speed setting. Not sure if that was the best setting but it was a speed I was comfortable with. Once and a while I would hit the Max setting because my shield was so dark and it would almost melt the steel so you really need it on the lowest settings possible the metal is too thin. I hope this helps.

Well I got word late last week that they should be finished with the Jeep this week. :chug: I know it has been killing me but I did ask them to do it as filler work to help keep the cost down. It didn't help that we had a city wide golf ball size hail storm the weekend after I dropped it off, so they have been really busy. So I thought I would post a few of the pictures from when I stripped and painted my old hard top this spring. It was a lot of work but it really turned out better than I expected. :chug: I hope maybe it will help others who are thinking about doing it.

Here are some of the completed top.:)

that should provide a nice contrast to the supposed paint job this rig is getting;)

Nice work! I had a serious case of dejavu thumbing through your thread! :D

Well everyone it will be one more week:( I had hoped to pick it up today but again they are not finished with it. Damn hail storm:mad: So I am heading on vacation this week so they assured me it would be completed by when I get back:D So I will post pics when I get it!

Picking up tomorrow! Checked it out today!:chug: Got the car hauler rented for 8:00 am! I will post pics asap!

Ok I can't wait here are some pics from today!

That's one slick paint job! I can't wait to see it complete.

Very nice! I love the decals, all the different CJ decals. Its a nice way to make your CJ a bit more unique. I have never seen that color sceme before though. Was it a factory option or something custom you envisioned? It reminds me of the silver/black (25th?) aniversary CJ5 package.

Lookin good man! Congrats.

Got her home today!:chug: Starting to put things back together!:D

That looks awesome. Didnt know you were adding the decals. Nice touch. What year are they from?
Ok I can't wait here are some pics from today!

that looks very very good:drool:.

you need some good rock rails now to keep the rocks, stumps, shopping carts and car doors away from your rockers.

Thank You, the Renegade Decals are the design for an 83-84 CJ7 . I wanted them to be like the old 83 I rolled back in college. My family did not like the orange like I did, and I didn't want the blue, no offense. I saw these on a Jeep that sold on Ebay about a month ago and emailed him 4 times before he sent me a reply. These are a custom color made by Austin Jeeps. I really like the way they look!:D
