1983 cj7 inline six 5 speed gear box
Hello all I am a newbie here and this is my first jeep. I have search but have not found an answer to this problem , I have no power to my reverse switch, it is a 1983 inline six with a 5 speed, the switch is on the driver side of the Transmission with two wires.
The wires have been traced all the way back to the dash. I can get no power from the red ,orange or white w/tracer.
All smog related wiring and harness have been removed, also the crab has been replaced.
My question where does it draws its power from, red, orange or white? If there was something I should have kept hooked up from the smog wiring it is too late. If so is there a way to get Power to the switch and from what source,I assume it would have to be switched power not constant.
To all thanks.

tipicaly I think the back up lights are like all the other lights. I would think just about any accessory circuit would do the job.I believe as sold it was the same circuit as the cigar lighter, My diagram is showing a red on red wire:cool:

The red wire is a switched power to the B/U switch, White wire w/ black tracer goes to the lights, Orange wire goes to Transfer Case for 4x4 indicator light in speedo, extra wire was for an auto tranny is my understanding. Not sure where the switched power comes from but I did see that some of the switched power to other stuff under the hood all ties into a large red wire with crimp and solder connections inside the wire loom on the fire wall to the left of the brake booster
