Just an FYI to remember… Engine codes are based on a calendar year not a model year.

The engine code is 711C30.

Let's look at this build code again, I don' believe it to be correct.
We agree the first digit is the year, (1974)
The 2 -3 being the month, (11) and 5-6 being the day (30)
The issue is the letter, “C” which is the code for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l engine
The problem is the letter C is an incorrect code for 1974
Here is the deal, if you have a AMC 232 i6 the fourth digit should be E, F, or G
If it's a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l the fourth digit should be letter A, or B (C followed 2 years later)


I would suggest you recheck your engine build code, what you thought was a C may have been a G.
