Hi all ,
Quick recap I live in the uk but have a CJ6 77 in egypt in a place on the red sea called dahab. I did think it was a AMC 232 i6 but it had a 2 barrel carter so now I think its a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .
How can you tell them apart ?
Ive searched a lot but cant find out what screw theads are on my jeep and forgot to bring home a bolt.
The two holding on the centre inlet manifold have been bodged in the past a and I want to retap and put in new ones when I re do the gasket.
Can any body tell me the most usefull tap and die sizes I will need for this model please. Its bad enough with all the old uk sizes ive no idea on american threads.
And what size the inlet gasket bolts are.
So far ive redone the piston rings so its not leaking oil anymore.
New HTI distributor and weber carb.
New electric fuel pump and lines and electric fan.
New rocker cover and new pcv system.
New battery and rewired everything under the bonet, sorry hood.
New bell rank clutch assembly , I can now press the clutch in properly and gear changes are a lot more smoth after finding the gear shift asembly was all lose in the top of the gearbox, the cup wasnt even srewed on and no spring..
The jeep is now driving something like it should and is now probably the best jeep in dahab after having TLC that didnt involve a hammer.
