Shackle lifts... are they a bad idea?

I would probably try it as is, and if your going to get a front end alignment you will find out what it's actually at, via a more accurate laser computer, and any other steering issues will be corrected. So IF it has to be done, wait till later to find out for sure what degree shim you need. But I would switch to steel shims at some point.

thats what i was thinking too... get it assembled and running... no need to address problems that may/may not exist...

thanks Pa...

its always a good feeling when someone smarter than me thinks the same as me

In all my years working at the shop, I never installed any shackle over 1". I would reweld pads before installing big degree shims, to much like a block (I never installed front or rear) which is unsafe under any front. I have removed a lot of home made shackles, that even scared me. I would never install Tera-Flex Revolver Shackles (Wacky Shackles).
But that is not only my opinion but the engineers from Dana Spicer. Leave the shackles & Caster alone, put on lift springs, body or SOA.
Keep it safe.

I totally agree with all of this. :notworthy:

This is what the folks at Rocky-Road suggest on their OME YJ conversion. Add the lift and leave the shackles stock length and rarely a caster issue.

OK when i did my Reversal kit my axle moved forward a bit. but when i go over rocks my axle moves back.. I dont know geometry.... but i needed 32s to clear the rear lower part of my front fender. this might be good for you. it would help with steering for sure and a dropped pitman arm. you have very nice front end friend.:notworthy:

thanks for the compliment!

i DO have a drop pitman, but theres no weight in the front yet... once i get the weight on, i'll see how she sits... im hoping that all i will need is maybe the flip kit to get the drag link closer to horizontal... if i need to lose the shackles, i can do that too...

NOW i am shopping for a steering shaft and column...

summit has a good deal on a column... but my shaft is frozen and wont extend/collapse... so im guessing at the limit length... anyone know what i need for my 76?

Google "Borgeson 000910 Power Steering Shaft Assembly" is on amazon great price. its the one i need..want. Sorry it wont let me post a link.. :chug:
