I bought new rear shackles for my stock CJ7 leaf springs. I installed one and it "looks" to be too wide even with the new bushings. My leaf springs are approximately 2 1/2" wide, however the new shackles measure 3" inner width. Is this right or did I get YJ shackles?

Aftermarket spring shackles usually require a different spring bushing. The CJ and YJ springs are the same width.

The bushings seem to fill the gap and the new shackles fit on snugly. I bought them from 4WD Hardware. They are Warrior Product W/I 120 and claim to fit CJ rear and YJ front. Everything I have read says CJ rear are the same as YJ front, so they can't be the same, right? Otherwise why the YJ spring conversion and such? No offense meant, just trying to sort it out.

The YJ and CJ rear springs are 2.5" wide, I think the YJ spring is slightly longer in the rear also. The CJ front spring is 2" wide and the YJ spring is 2.5" wide and also slightly longer and flatter. The purpose of the swap is to have a softer riding CJ with better flex capabilities the wider longer flatter leaf spring absorbs bumps better :chug: I have them on mine because I am building a Spring over axle Jeep. That allows me to have soft flat springs that will flex nicely You can put the YJ springs on the front of your jeep with a set of new rear frame sping hangers and shackles bolted on the front if you want

I guess my question is this; is it okay to install that 3"wide shackle on my 2 1/2" rear leaf spring with new bushings
