Sound bar for 79 cj7

Hello everyone,

I have a 79 CJ7 and I wanted to put a two speaker sound bar in it. Someone I know is selling a two speaker sound bar that came out of their tj. I wanted to know if anyone could tell me i could put a sound bar out of a tj in and if that would affect how my hard top fits? Would my hard top still be able to fit with the sound bar on?

short answer...NO....... the sound bar is mounted behind the main up right hoop. They attach to the up right as well as the rear hoops. the newer Jeeps have a different roll bar which is refereed to as a family bar. the rear bar follows the roof line to the back of the Jeep and then drops down. This helps protect back seat passengers in a roll over. The later YJ jeeps had them and if you get one of those it might work with the sound bar but you will have to measure the sound bar and roll bar. You can convert your bar to a family style by buying the rear hoops and welding it in and you should be able to get the sound bar to mount to it that way
